Below are answers to some basic questions we are asked a lot. We hope this information will help you in making any decision about purchasing from Ella Park Bridal.

It is preferred that you make an appointment.  The Ella Park Bridal experience is supposed to be different than other major chains and warehouses.  When you book an appointment with us, it ensures you will have a room and consultant available when you arrive.  We do NOT permit self-shopping.  Your expert consultant will walk you through the entire selection and buying process from beginning to end.  Our outstanding customer service is the reason why we are awarded The Knot’s “Best of Weddings.”

Appointments are required on the weekends and for all alterations. All appointments will be prioritized. If you did not make an appointment, we will try our best to accommodate you. If there is not an opening, we will work to schedule one while you are here in the store.

To make an appointment, you can either call us at 812.853.1800 or request an appointment online.  Once your request is submitted, you will receive an e-mail confirmation.

Bridal Appointments

  • Bridal First Appointment are 90 minutes long with the following appointment times:
    • Monday-Friday:  10a, 12p, 2p, and 4p (cst)
    • Friday-Saturday: 10a, 12p, and 2p (cst)
    • Sunday: 12p and 2p (cst)
  • Bridal Follow-Up Appointments are 60 minutes long and available on the hour with your bridal consultant.
  • Bridal Try-On Appointments are made when your gown has arrived with your bridal consultant.  They are 60 minutes long and available on the hour.
  • Brides generally will have more time with their consultant during the weekdays.  Appointment are required on the weekends and usually book well in advanced.

Bridesmaid Appointments

  • Consultation/Picking-out are 60 minutes long and available on the hour.
  • Measuring typically takes 30 minutes but depends on the number of people.
  • If you plan on bringing in more than 3 people, we highly recommend making an appointment on the weekdays to make sure we can accommodate you in a timely manner.  All appointments are required on the weekend.

Rental Appointments

  • Consultation/Picking-out are 60 minutes long and available on the hour.
  • Measuring typically takes 30 minutes but depends on the number of people.

Alteration Appointments

Alteration Appointments are available to our customers by appointment only Monday through Friday.  Appointments generally take 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how much is needed to be completed. If a bride wishes to do her alterations with us, we recommend calling to make her first fitting appointment at least 3 months in advance of her wedding date.  Other dress appointments are generally made four to six weeks prior to the wedding.  Please call our Alterations Department at 812.853.8595 to schedule your appointment.

At Ella Park Bridal, our bridal gowns range from $1000 to $2500.  During the appointment process, your bridal consultant will ask for your gown budget as we want to be respectful of it.  The worst thing you can do is fall in love with a gown you cannot afford.  You will also notice that we do not hide our prices as they are boldly displayed on each dress ticket.

We understand that shopping for your bridal gown is a very special time.  While we have seating for up to six guests comfortably, we recommend bringing your closest friends and/or family members whose opinion you value.  Bringing more than three to four guests can take the focus off of you.

Bridal Gowns

Ella Park Bridal offers bridal gown samples from size 6 to 26W.  Brides will be able to special order her bridal gown from size 0 to 32 and 14W to 26W.

Special Note: We understand that not every girl is a typical sample size 10.  Unlike most bridal stores, we believe your bridal experience should not be spent worrying about size; it is about finding the dress that is going to make you feel beautiful on your special day.  At Ella Park Bridal,  you will find an ample amount of sample gowns ABOVE size 10.  We offer an extensive range of plus size bridal gowns that will fit from size 18 to 32W.  No matter your body type, our consultants will help you to find the perfect wedding dress.

Bridesmaid Dresses

Ella Park Bridal offers bridesmaid samples from size 0 to 30.  Your bridesmaids will be able to special order her gown from size 0 to 32 and 16W to 30W.  We also offer junior and maternity bridesmaid dresses so your bridal party does not feel left out.

Yes!  Ella Park Bridal believes every woman, regardless of size, should feel beautiful on her wedding day.  We offer an extensive range of bridal gowns that will fit from 18 to 32W.  Several of our designers specialize in plus size gowns, like Allure Women.  They are not just a bridal gown in a bigger size.  These gowns are specially proportioned to accentuate your figure with high-quality construction and design.  They will fit, feel and look spectacular on your figure.  No matter your body type, our consultants will help you to find the perfect wedding dress.

Our Recommendation of what to bring to your Bridal Appointment:

We have developed the following list of eight things you should bring to your bridal appointment.  Please be assured this list was prepared with your comfort in mind and to give you the best experience at Ella Park Bridal.

  1. Appropriate underwear as your bridal consultant will be assisting you in the dressing room.
  2. Undergarments if you plan on wearing them during on your wedding day.  We believe “less is more” that day as our gowns have cups already inserted in the gown. If you are wanting anything more, bring them as they can alter the fit of the dress.
  3. Anything you have decided to wear because it has sentimental value (i.e. pair of shoes, veil, jewelry).  You will want it to match your dress.
  4. Shoes with approximate heel height that you know you will want to wear that day.  Some of our designers can make the dress in the height that you want.  They do not have to be actual shoes but just the heel height.
  5. Wear just enough makeup to make you feel pretty–but do not go overboard.  Remember you will be slipping in and out of dresses so you do not want to get it on them.
  6. Hair tie if you are planning an up-do.
  7. Inspirational photos to help the Consultant get a better idea of what you are looking for.
  8. Closest and most-trusted family and friends as we have seating for 3 or 4 in your bridal suite.  Remember that the final decision is yours and too many guests can cause confusion.

NEVER! There is no fee required to book a bridal appointment.  If you can not make your appointment time, we ask that you call us at 812.853.1800 prior so that other brides can take advantage of that time slot.

Bridal Gowns

Nowadays, brides with a quick wedding date have more than one option when it comes to purchasing her dream dress.  Several of our bridal gown designers offer rush shipping and in-stock options, which means it could come in quicker than their standard timing.  Please note that in-stock dresses can be limited in color and/or sizes.  Your expert bridal consultant will be able to guide you through this process.  We also have a beautiful selection of gowns that can be purchased off-the-rack at a discount.


Bridesmaid Dresses

Ella Park Bridal offers special order bridesmaid gowns so a bride can create her own unique look by picking out the style, fabric, and color.  We do not offer dresses that can be sold off the floor.  Several of our designers offer rush options to get them here quicker than standard shipping.  Need it here really quick? We also have several designers who offer in-stock options in limited color and sizes.

A trunk show is a special in-store event, lasting two to three days, where you can purchase from a designer’s latest collection. The designer’s representatives are usually at the store during a trunk show. If you find the dress of your dreams at a trunk show, be prepared to make a decision that day, as the gown will not be in the store once the trunk show is over.  At Ella Park Bridal, we also will give you a special incentive for making your decision during this special event.  Follow us on social media and our website to be notified of upcoming store events, like this.

A special order bridal gown is one that is made just for you… in your size and color you chose from the available options.  Some of our designers even allow you to change the length and back closure for a more customized look.  If you want a stress-free buying experience, we recommend coming in eight to twelve months prior.  Our designers will take at least four to six months for the dress to come in, and you will want three months allotted for alterations.  The time between can be spent finding the perfect accessories to complete your look.

Ella Park Bridal accepts cash, *check, and all major credit cards (VISA, Discover, MasterCard, American Express).

*Payment by Check:  Please note we will delay ordering merchandise until we are notified by the bank when the check has cleared.  This may take up to 10 business days.  Checks can NOT be used as final payments.  Returned check fee is $25.00.

Yes, Ella Park Bridal offers interest-free layaway or payment plans on bridal gowns and accessories.  A customer has three options when purchasing special order merchandise — pay in full, a 60% deposit, or making a payment plan with a minimum of 25% down.  Please note all merchandise has to be paid in full before being taken out of the store and/or starting alterations.  Ask your bridal consultant if you have any questions/concerns.

60% deposit:

  • Payment 1: 60% of total order at initial appointment > Merchandise will be ordered.
  • Payment 2: 40% of total order when merchandise arrives

Payment Plan:

We require a minimum of 25% deposit at your initial appointment.  The next three payments of 25% will be made on the 1st or 15th of each consecutive month.  Once 50% of the order has been paid, we will order the gown and/or accessories from the designer.  Please note the merchandise will come in a month later than the current estimated delivery date.  Payment plans can not be used on in-stock purchases unless 50% of total order is met.  See example below.  Please note a credit card must be put on file for all payment plans.

Example:

  • Payment 1: 25% of total order at initial appointment
  • Payment 2: 25% of total order on either 1st or 15th of the following month > Merchandise will be ordered.
  • Payment 3: 25% of total order on either 1st or 15th of the following month
  • Payment 4: 25% of total order on either 1st or 15th of the following month

Bridesmaid gowns are paid in-full at the time measurements are taken. Ella Park Bridal accepts cash, *check, all major credit cards (VISA, Discover, MasterCard, American Express).

All the gowns will be ordered when the entire bridal party has been sized and each order is paid in full.  Any variation from this procedure could result in different dye lots and/or rush charges.  No returns or exchanges are permitted on any purchase.

Most people will find that the recommended dress size is one to two sizes larger than what they normally wear.  Do not fixate on the actual size but instead on how your measurements compare to the designer’s size chart.  Based on the measurements given, one of our bridal consultants will recommend a size based on that particular size chart.  Measurements may not line up perfectly with one particular size so we will recommend a size to fit your largest measurement.  It is ultimately the customer’s decision on what size they choose to purchase.

Please note these gowns are not custom made to fit you.  Most people will need some alterations to fit perfectly.  Please note that alterations are a separate fee and are available Monday through Friday by appointment only.

Ella Park Bridal can not be responsible for measurements not performed in the store.  Because these are special ordered, there are no returns, exchanges, or cancellations.

Professional opinion?  No.  Ella Park Bridal recommends ordering your current size.  Any dress can be taken down at least two sizes without affecting the look of the dress.  And, not all dresses can be let out because of the dress construction.  Be realistic in case you do not meet your goals.  Our experience shows that while you could lose weight, it might be in the wrong places.  Really determined to lose weight?  Ask your consultant if you have time to purchase at a later time so that you can get measured closer to your goal.

Your deadline for any weight loss goals needs to be finished by your first alterations appointment, or three months prior to the wedding.  Please note any differences in measurements after this appointment will result in an additional pinning fee.

We understand that not everyone in the bridal party lives in the same city as the bride and groom.  Once the bride/groom has registered their bridal party, you can call us at 812.853.1800 to give us your measurements and pay over the phone.  We ask that you have a professional measure you.

Please note if Ella Park Bridal does NOT perform the measurements, we can NOT be responsible for the fit.

Suit & Tuxedo Rentals

Follow these Simple Steps for your Out-of-Town Groomsmen:

Download or E-mail the Measurement Form

You can either e-mail the measurement form to your out-of-town groomsmen, or they can download and print a copy for the person who measures them.

Your out-of-town groomsmen can visit a Jim’s Formal Wear Retailer to get measured.  There are 5,000 authorized JFW Retailers nationwide – six times the number of any other tuxedo rental store!  If a JFW Retailer is not close, a professional tailor or menswear shop is a good alternative.  Please do not take measurements yourself.  If Ella Park Bridal does NOT perform the measurements, we can NOT be responsible for the fit.

2 Months Prior | Submit your Measurements & Pay Deposit

You can either call in your measurements at 812.853.1800 or submit them using the below link.  A $50 non-refundable deposit is required as partial payment to reserve all rental orders.  Balance can be paid when picking up rental.  Please note that all rentals are secured on a first-come, first-serve basis so the earlier, the better.

Week of Event | Pick-Up & Try-On

Rentals are generally available for pick-up on Tuesday evening prior to the wedding.  You will be notified by phone/text message when your rental is available for pick-up.  Once you get into town, visit us promptly to try on your rental during normal business hours (W-TH 10a-7p, FR 10a-5p CST).

If for some reason an item does not fit properly, we need to be notified by Thursday at 4pm CST so we can order replacements and have them delivered on Friday.

If you arrive on Friday prior to the event, we can only make some minor Alterations to the rental.  Because these are rentals, we can move a coat button, hem jacket sleeves, and/or hem the pant legs.  Please note our Alterations Department is NOT available on Saturdays.   For these reasons, it is imperative that you are correctly measured.  Ella Park Bridal cannot be held responsible for measurements not performed in our store.

Your balance must be paid in full prior to taking rental with you.  Checks can NOT be used as final payments.  If you cannot pick up your rental by close of business on Friday, please have someone do it for you.

Day after Event | Return

We ask that everyone returns their rentals on the day after the event, typically Sunday by 5pm (CST).  If you wish, you can give someone else the task of returning your rental.  There is a $50 late fee for every day the rental is late after Sunday at 5pm (CST).  This ensures that Jim’s has enough time to process, clean, and get out for the next week’s event!

Yes, we can ship any dress for an additional shipping fee.  Each dress typically cost $10.99* to ship via Priority Mail.  You may call us at 812.853.1800 to add it to your order with your shipping information.  Once your dress comes in, we will notify you via text/e-mail and will send it to your shipping address you provided.

*Please note we do not ship to international addresses. Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are an additional fee. To insure your package is an extra cost.

YAY! Your bridal gown is here! You will need to call to make a “Try-On and Inspection Appointment” within 10 days of being notified at 812.853.1800. Appointment is typically 60 minutes with your Bridal Consultant (if available).

During your Try-On & Inspection Appointment, you will…

  • Inspect and approve the condition of your bridal gown for proper size, color, fabric, and length.
  • If you paid for a custom hem, please bring in your shoes to ensure the gown is the proper length.
  • Pay for balance owed on gown (if applicable) within 10 days of being notified.
  • Complete your look by purchasing accessories (i.e. veil, belt, jewelry, shoes, etc) while your gown is on. Plus! Take advantage of your bridal savings on your purchase.
    • Please take into account special order accessories typically take 4 to 8 weeks to come in.
  • Please note this is not an Alterations appointment. If someone from our Alteration Team is available during your appointment, you may get a quote for your alterations. The quote is an estimate and is subject to change between now and your First Fitting.

The Try-On Appointment is for your benefit – to make sure you are satisfied with your gown. We do not want to wait until you start alterations, or three months prior to wedding, for you to try on your gown for the first time. We know the importance of your wedding day, and while we do not anticipate any issues, we want to be proactive if there should be any.

Come in and try it on! We ask for you to try it on and take it with you within 10 days from the day you were notified.  You do NOT need to make an appointment.  We prefer pick-up on the weekdays when the store is less busy.  If you come on the weekend, please be patient with us as we will get to you as soon as possible.

Shipping is available for those who cannot make it within the designated time.  Bridesmaid dresses typically cost $9.99* to ship via Priority Mail.  You may call us at 812.853.1800 to add it to your order with your shipping information.

Timing Is Important

If a bride wishes to do her alterations with us, we recommend calling to make her first fitting appointment at least 3 months in advance of her wedding date.  If you alter your gown too early and your measurement changes after your fitting, it could affect the fit of your dress, resulting in an additional fitting fee. If you do not allow enough time for your alterations, you run the risk of not having enough time to make all the desired changes and/or paying rush fees.

Other dress appointments are generally made four to six weeks prior to the wedding.  Note the amount of time you need depends on the amount of work required.  If Alterations is available, rental alterations can generally be made on the spot.

Please note Alterations are not included in the price of the merchandise.  All merchandise and alteration fees must be paid before starting any alterations.

Ella Park Bridal offers in-house alterations, exclusively to our customers.  This is a service to our customers, but you are not obligated if you have someone you trust.  Alterations are not included in the price of the gown. Bridal Gown Estimates

Alterations for Bridal Gowns typically range from $150 to $400,* but will depend on the complexity of your gown and circumstances.  If an Alteration Specialist is available, we will be happy to give you a quote during your Try-On Appointment.  If you want to make a major change to your dress, you will need a quote by one of our Alteration Specialists.  Please note any weight changes AFTER your dress has been pinned and sewn will cause an additional fitting fee.

Other Gown Estimates

Alterations for other gowns typically range from $20 to $150,* but will depend on the complexity of your gown and circumstances.  If an Alteration Specialist is available, we will be happy to give you a quote.  If you want to make a major change to your dress, you will need a quote by one of our Alteration Specialists.

You need to bring the shoes and undergarments you will wear on your wedding day.  We need them to make sure your gown fits properly through the bodice and hemline.
